Sizemore Farms is dedicated to implementing precision agriculture, a farming management concept based on observing, measuring and responding to inter- and intra-field variability in crops. By collecting quality information about specific parts of the fields using soil and water sensors, aerial imagery and other technological tactics, we can reduce our impact on the environment while producing a healthier crop.
Sizemore Farms has recently integrating a pest management program into our growing process. By analyzing specific problem areas and attributing issues back to their natural place in the ecosystem, we can greatly reduce our impact on the environment.
For example, worms can indicate a variety of problems. However, this may also mean that there are ladybugs are present. If we treat for worms, we may not be treating the real issue and this could result in an excess amount of inputs being used on our crop. By considering the entire ecosystem, we are not only saving time and money, but the environment as well.
